With LCD's and memory cards cheap, can we build our own digital picture frames?

Just throwing the idea around. You can get 5-7in lcd's for @100 bux. Smartmedia and CF cards are real cheap. I'm sure I can make a nice housing out of aluminum, wood, lexan, etc. what do you think? How do I get the pictures out? Any one else do this yet?
Thanks,
Phil

^ for cool idea and I'd like to do one myself😀

You would probably have to have software on a chip to help you do it?

It seems that the viewing angle increases with the size of the LCD. Most 17" LCDs offer 160/160 (h/v) or better, while 15" LCDs seem to be around 120/120. I am not sure of the specifications of these smaller units, but I assume the viewing angle is considerably less.

You can get a decent sized frame for about $100 already.

Lets look at the prices. This is FOB from shanghai.

7" 8" LCD MONITOR MIN ORDER 500PCS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8" WIDE SCREEN TFT-LCD USD 198
7" WIDE SCREEN TFT-LCD USD 145

That already defeats most of the purpose since I get get a nice one from kodak for that much.
