Witcher 3 AMD drivers expected this week

You just have to give AMD some time!

It's not like games are announced yrs ahead of time, these new games just keep popping up out of nowhere! 😱

In all seriousness though, it already runs pretty well with the 15.4 beta drivers.

Now we just need x-fire working properly.

Runs fine for me but I agree need crossfire working. My second gpu sits doing nothing.

One word (explination): Nvidia.

Kinda off topic, but interesting nonetheless.
The Witcher 3 – How to Run HairWorks on AMD GPUs Without Crippling Performance

Not sure how much it effects visual quality for the rest of the game though.

I would love to see a comparison of 8x and 16x vs. whatever an Nvidia GPU puts out with Hairworks turned on.

Seeing as how the jump from 8x to 16x is hardly noticeable one can only assume that Nvidia has coded in some absolutely retarded amount of tesselation in hairworks to not only cripple AMD gpu's, but also their pre-maxwell GPU's as well.

Yay! Everyone loves a good workaround.....

While I don't think a 'Day 0' driver is needed for most games, it is smart marketing to ensure you aren't left off the table for really big releases. Since we really just see 1-3 'really big' GPU-reliant titles a year, AMD and NV should be expected to release on or soon after if they want to keep their more demanding customers happy.

Sure it is playable, but these types of examples show how vulnerable multi-GPU setups can be, in that they rely so much on the driver to work at all. 295x users are running the same as 290x right now....that is a HUGE deal if you have a 4k rig.

AMD also needs to understand that some more 'easily influenced' people on the web just read a review and buy the best performing in their budget. If AMD's products show really poorly for even just a week, they just missed a lot of potential recommendations from reviewers.

Just read some reviews now and uninformed users might be turned off just by the fact that Hairworks (what a ridiculous name...😛) is totally broken on AMD hardware. I don't blame them, but that's the situation...

AMD have got really lazy on drivers, last official one was before xmas, how long do we have to wait?

nVidia has got really terrible with drivers. Why do I have to download a new driver everytime a game comes out? Can't they get their drivers working on the first try? For a gameworks title, the Witcher 3 gets an awful lot of driver CTDs.

I can't wait for the game ready driver for Magicka 2 that comes out next week because it'll be impossible to play it without it. Hopefully it's WHQL driver, cause that adds 10 fps.

You don't have to download a new driver. I was running the witcher 3 fine on a half year old driver, new driver also works fine. Doesn't perform any better on my 670 unfortunately, at least it's not worse.

Go see the amount of people that are having BF4 issues with this new witcher 3 drivers on the Nvidia camp.

Just because one company releases drivers often makes them better.

Exactly, who cares if they put out a weekly driver if it breaks other games while trying to fix another.

Plus, AMD releases drivers one a month. Are they always WHQL, no. But that really only matters for certain environments (ie: enterprise). For a gamer it should not matter at all.

Their most recent driver is from last month. New driver comes out here in a few days(ish), and provided it doesn't break other games, I am fine with monthly releases.

Official? All of the drivers AMD releases are official.

I mean non beta ones,I miss the old monthly driver updates with AMD, had so many choices on drivers back then,I would settle for official non beta every two or three months.

Only had one freeze so far with TW3 game opening inventory(I hear it's a well known issue).

I really don't get what the big deal is. I am still using the driver from back in sep 2014, the omega one? every game has ran perfectly 🙂

Took AMD awhile for CF for FarCry4 but boy is it nice now!

You should have known it wasn't AMD that got CF to work for FC4 or Dying Light or any of the other GameWorks game.

It was actually via an official game patch that added support for CF AND optimized performance for AMD GPUs.

The "big deal" is that Crossfire is broken, but with this being a Crapworks game, AMD really isn't to blame. Par for the course.
