It seems that most Durons can get another 200 or 250MHz. However, the lower you start, the more you can get from your OC. Seems like most Duron 600s will reach at least 800 or 850.
I have a 700 and am unable to get it to run with any stability above 900 mhz. I tried it at 950 and 1g but even with maximum voltage it just was not stable enough (occasional game crashes, etc.) Did I get a bad chip or what? Not that it's a big deal.. I've only encountered one program that chunks on it and that is some stupid demo of a german game.
Note that I did not change the bus speed, only the multiplier.
I have not tried a different heat sink and fan but wouldn't it still turn on briefly and be ludicrously hot? At 900 it's running at 45-48 degrees celsius. When games were crashing, it was running the same temperature.
I went the bargain basement way and got the 600. I went in with someone at Buy.com and got it for $75 shipped. Mine clocks to 900 stable with 1.85v but it runs hot. 48C+ at idle so I only run it at 800 until I get an industrial HS/Fan. I can Post at a gig, but doubt if the extra cooling will get me there stable.
