Wish Me Luck, BFG 6800oc on the Way :) ***** UPDATE - ITS ARRIVED & UNLOCKED *****

Everyone wish me luck.

I finally made up my mind and did it. My BFG 6800oc will be on its way tommrrow 🙂

Man is it just me, or do us humans become more indecisive as we get older? Kept bouncing all over the place trying to make up my mind. First I was trying to decide between a new lcd monitor now and video card later or video card later and monitor now, then it was which 6600gt I wanted, after more research it became 6600gt or 6800, last but not least it became which 6800. I had just about settled on the Jaton model as I had gotten a email from Buy.com that allowed 10% off. Which basically made the card $249 shipped. Great deal from what I hear on these video cards and I loved the bundle (Madden 2004 and C&C Generals). And I almost purchased it, but I was very weary because I could not find anyone posting ANYTHING about it. Anything good or bad and their web site is pretty scary. It seemed kind of unprofessional and was obviously not updated well. In fact I searched and searched and could not find the 6800 on their site at all.

Sooo. To make a long story short I checked one more time before purchasing. I found a BFG 6800oc brand new in shrink wrap for $265 + Shipping. Its a little more than the Jaton but from what I hear their tech support is worth it. That and its already overclocked slightly so slightly faster out of the box.

But back to the point at hand. Everyone wish me luck 🙂 It will be here in a few days and I get to hopefully become one of the 60% or so who can open up the extra pipelines sucesfully.

good luck. my bfg 6800gt oc is at bfg supposedly getting fixed. can't seem to get any kind of update out of them after a week now, really annoyed with their customer service.

You are not getting indecisive.

You have just be burned more often and became streetsmart 🙂

Hmm Fisher thats not a good thing to tell me when I have already ordered heh.

Edit: And thanks for the well wish's. Card probably wont make it in till next week so have to survive this week jumping up to open the door every time I hear a vehicle go by. Running outside and looking around every time I think I see a delivery person out of the corner of my eye. Being unable to sleep because I am afraid I will overlseep a few and miss the delivery person if he shows up first thing.

This never happened in my old private home. Living in Apts is tough heh.

Woo Hoo

All I can say is:

custom (16x1,6vp)

Everything is perfect. No graphics tearing, no glitchs, just smooth very fast graphics. Got Half Life II running at 1280 x 1024 x 4x FSAA x 16x AF with everything maxed and man does it look awesome and run sweet 🙂 (Would go for 1600 but as I understand it I cant do that with 4x FSAA and only 128 MB of ram)

Not tried to overclock yet so not sure what results I will get there but at least the pipelines are open and the extra shaders are up.

Thanks again for good wish's. Proof here that sometimes you do get lucky.

nice 🙂 mine seems to run fine as well..

oddly enough it does overclock to 400 core.. and it doesnt detect any artifacts.. it says.. but in games I do get some tearing 🙁 oh well...

I will try to o/c higher with new mobo down the road with voltage control on AGP port. but until then it is running fast enough for me.

OH yeah.. mine is super quiet 🙂

About Jaton, they are a company that sells NVidia's reference boards. SO, in a way they're selling the OG 6800s. Jaton is nothing really to be afraid of, and in fact they got a building in Irvine, California so yah, they're a global company that just isn't on a big enough scale as compared to BFG, EVGA, LEADTEK, etc. They're similar to ROSEWILL if you will; solid products, great customer service, and nice prices.

very nice card. ive had 2 myself and only one was unlockable totally with 16x1,6vp. well at least they are almost ALWAYS able to unlock the 6th vertex shader. it is a good card though and make sure u pair it up with a good processor cus it is really processor bound just like all the 6800's

was going to get the 6800oc, but it was sold out. so I got the XFX 6800. I play at max 1024x768/4x af and it still doesn't play entirely smooth. what are the rest of your specs? mine is an amd 2500+ and 512 mb, and it plays from 30-50 most of the time. :/ and tech support isn't being much help.

Ahh my system is:

Athlon 64 3200+
1 GB Corsair XMS Xtreme Ram
WD 80 GB Hard Drive
And of course the BFG 6800OC

As far as motherboard and such I am using a Shuttle XPC system. I was worried at first about heat and power supply issues. But the case is extremely well made and ventilated, and the power supply is running perfectly (They suggest at least a 300w Minimum in the ads, this is a 240w). It really seems to have as good of airflow as most midtower cases i have used. Mostly because of how well they have the cables routed around the case instead of right in the middle. As far as actual temp goes I have not even seen the card go over 50c since I have gotten it.

But not sure why you would be getting slow frame rates at only 1024. I did read somewhere that bad power supplys can cause that issue though. Not sure thats your case friend but you might want to get a utility from the net to make sure your power supply is hitting the right numbers.

Not sure what else to tell you that might fix it though. What games are things slowing down in?

Congrats on your card  That's a really good card, especially that the pipes were unlocked.

It's either your RAM or your CPU that's slowing you down, and I guess it's most probably the RAM since most of the new generation games require 1024MB as a minimum to run at max settings (HL2, Doom3, FarCry etc...)
See if you can get another stick of 512Mb memory.

p.s: dfloyd, I think it's good to update the title so people will know you got the card.
