yup yup. So it's me again, deciding what to do w/ my life.....from the beginning, this was what I wanted. I've always wanted to continue study after graduation and get a M.S; reason because I want to get an advanced degree, and also, I really do absolutley love going to school and being in classroom enviornment and learning.

Unfortunately, My advisor told me that I shot myself in the foot and pretty much told meI have little to no chance of getting in, because of my low gpa, so I pretty much forgot about this dream of mine, and settled to finding a job(hence, my numerous job thread for math majors).

Now, I found a smaller and local university, which has an M.S program that I like, and I will talk to the advisor to see my chances of getting in on conditional basis(currently, my gpa is around 2.5 or so, w/ a number of repeat classes, but I'm 100% positive I"m gonna do a bunch better this semester and this summer).

anyways guys, I"m crossing my fingers for some good news from the advisor over there, to give me a bit of a chance....

cheers guys.

Good luck Semidevil, it's not impossible. I knew a guy who had a low 2.xx gpa in his undergrad and he's getting a PhD this year. You just have to keep your head high and work your tail off. If you are shooting for an MS, try to show them how determined you are, in your statement of purpose. Repeating some of the courses (in summer school) you did poorly on is a good start.

yea, thanx. I mean, most of the classes, I have already repeated, and I really do hope they dont put too much negativity on that....

maybe I can shoot high on my GRE, and they will take that....

Good luck. You can maybe help your chances by getting some more experience in your area of interest. In my area, for example, gaining experience in conducting research will go a long way toward overcoming a low GPA. Demonstrating that you have the ability/desire to do good work will be very beneficial.

A good GRE score never hurts. And they are conducted every month or so (computerized). The verbal is tough and the math was tricky for me. The analytical essay, I've never done but it should rely heavily on logic/reasoning skills. Also talk with some of your professors that you have good relations with and get recommendations.

yea, I know it's no excuse, and I really do regret the way I perform the past 3 years....it's just that I overworked myself always, overestimating myself, getting too many hours, and at the same time, working too much, and all that. I know some people can do it, but I guess, for me it's different. Yea, I admit, I made many stupid choices.

I so regret shooting myself in the foot, and hope that I get another chance this time......
