... and oh man, let me tell you, Vicodin is the sh*t!! This is my first time taking this stuff and it works wonders!

They pulled out the bottom two and my bottom lip is still sorta numb. I hope they didnt damage a nerve since they said the nerve canal is right by the root. Guess only time will tell.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but once the Vic wears off... have fun. I lived on Milkshakes, Mashed Potatoes, Jello, Yogurt and Water for a few days.

Don't forget the porridge.

February wasn't a good month for me. I had 4 bicuspids taken out, braces put on 2 weeks later, and the semi-annual teeth cleaning a week after that.

It's different for different people. Some are out of commission for a few weeks, some aren't.

I had all 4 taken out, was sore that night, needed a few T3's over the next few days, then had a full turkey dinner 3 days later and was 100% after 5 days.

Like others have said, it all depends on the person. I refused to take any painkillers and yet I hardly had any pain at all. I just slept on the couch, drank milkshakes, and watched movies all day long. By the time day two rolled around I could hardly even tell that I had them removed.

Lol I had 4 teeth removed in 8th grade to reduce crowding and allow me to get braces, so my wisdom teeth are currently kinda half-erupted but painless. However, getting those teeth taken out was a b!tch for a week or so. Had to suck cotton balls until the holes closed. Don't eat anything that's particulate (ie: rice). then you'll have to fish it out with a toothpick or something and if you slip it sucks a$$!

Depends on the person. I had all four taken out (2x upper = regular extraction, 2x bottom = impacted :( ) and couldn't eat quite right for ~2 weeks. Had a fair bit of swelling on the cheeks (and for some reason, also the throad) - so looked like a bullfrog for about a week.

Surprisingly though, no pain at all and I stopped taking the painkillers after the first day. Watch out for dry socket though (thankfully, didn't encounter it) - then you'll know pain ;)

Seems to vary a lot. I had mine out two at a time and didn't think anything of it. They prescribed me painkillers, but I really didn't need them. It was both times definitely preferable to having an average upper resperatory virus infection.

Wuss.... I had mine taken out and never touched the Vicodin. I stayed asleep for about 2-3 hours after the surgery because of the anesthesia and then after that I just used IB Profen.

Only a wuss needs to be put out.

Just the two wisdom teeth on my right side took 6 hours and I was awake the whole time.

The first 2 I had taken out were a piece of cake, no problem. The second two, the bottom ones, were horrible. The root had grown into my jaw, or wrapped around it, or something (the dentist explained it, but I wasn't feeling too good at the time) so they had to cut and scrape at my jawbone. Very deep cuts, lots of blood, and I was very awake. I was ok the first hour afterward, then the pain started in, and then the horrible vicodin dreams. Horrible.

I didn't go to sleep, and I just used a few Advil... maybe 6 total over the entire recovery process. On the other hand, I couldn't open my mouth 100% for 3 weeks, and I think it's still healing a little bit (5 weeks later)

Oh man, I remember when I had all four of my widsom teeth pulled out. I've heard terrible experiences from my friend, one of em who said he was put on laughing gas but somehow faded in and out during the procedure. He heard his dentist curse in chinese as he struggled to pull out the teeth. I had one tooth that was embedded and growing sideways so my dentist said it was best for me to get put asleep. All I remember was talking to my mom after the anesthetics was given. Then the doctor walks in with a bunch of tools and starts jamming stuff in and I'm like, "Hey wait, I haven't even fallen asleep yet!" My voice was completely muffled and turns out by then all 4 teeth had already been pulled out and I had just woken up. Had no idea...........

I haven't had any removed

I feel lucky, my orthodontist says (from looking at the x-rays and my mouth) that I get to keep mine with plenty of room
Somebody up there must love me

I had my premolars taken out about 10 years ago, and my wisdom teeth grew in without any impacting. I think I'm going to take them out anyway, because they're a bitch to clean.

Don't do that to yourself. Just deal with them. Get an electric toothbrush.

I had all four out last March (bottom two were impacted). I felt fine after the first few days, but then I managed to get dry sockets. Even with the Ibuprofen and Vicoprofen it was the worst pain I have ever had and it lasted for three or four weeks.
