Hollow socket + cold beer = ouch. I was tilting my head drinking beer and people at parties thought I was quite strange. Don't lose your clots

No. Just 600 mg ibuprofen every 6 hours.

Dude, you are seriously going to fuck up your stomach. They should've given you something else.

Milkshakes are your friend. Not only are they tasty on any occasion, but they taste even better after you've had your wisdom teeth taken out for whatever reason. :p

I'm not going to try to show off my epenor, but it really wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. They just gave me local to numb it out. The first tooth came out in seconds. Didn't feel a thing. The second one, was impacted, and had to be drilled apart to bits and taken out.
It was pretty darn painful the first day, until I took some advil. The advil was pretty much sufficient to taking out the pain.

All you really only need is local and some simple anagelsics.

Yes, and don't forget a great meal replacement liquid diet.
I already made these pretty regularly, so it was no problem for me.

Soymilk + protein powder + peanut butter = mmmmmmmmmmm lots of calories, protein, and nutrients.

Or I make strawberries + banana + protein powder. Both are quite satiating.

The dude who did mine gave me too much anesthesia (I went to sleep.. yeah wimp) and they couldn't bring me out of my "medicated coma." I woke up in a hospital bed (had the procedure done in a dentist's office) with an IV in my arm and heart meters attached to me. I don't really remember most of that day-- the only thing that was vivid was the extreme pain on the ride home while my father went in to get my vicodin. After that, it's kind of a blur.

My dad told me later that the total procedure from the moment I went in at the dentist's office to the time when the ambulance was called and took me to a hospital a few miles up the road, and got me pumped full of anti-anesthesia medication, it was a little under 4 hours.

Oh well, they're out. 2 weeks later I got an infection though... not cool. Though everyone in the dentist's office was very cheerful with me. Bunch of "everything alright?"s and "oh you had us so scared!"s.

What you got a history or something? Why did the dentist put you to sleep rather than just local anesthetic like most normal people?

???? You had a few teeth pulled. Why you knock yerself out on drugs for 3 days for? You got a drug problem?

I had local anestethic only, took some tylenol later that day, and that was it. Went right back to work the next morning - the tooth was pulled in the late afternoon.

Thse under teeth were you regular teeth and they would not have been removed. The ones on top would have been your baby teeth, which are supposed to fall out. Your dentist decided not to wait. If you were a yong adult when this was done, then yeah, those baby teeth needed to go.

For the dentis to put me to sleep or local anesthetic was like 30$ more. I have a little phobia of needles and it just sounded better.

The ones above were my regular teeth. I was 19 years old when it was done and my baby teeth were all gone :)

I'm 19 now, and I have yet to get my wisdom teeth. The orthodontist and dentist I go to say I might not get them in!

Heh, they're probably impacted. Though to be fair, SOME people don't get them at all.

Nope.

Same here - I only took ibuprofin. They gave me a prescription for demerol I think, I took one as soon as I got home, and it made me feel extremely ill. So I just stuck with the ibuprofin.

Cost for mine was about $650, with insurance covering about $1100.

yeh, i was wondering because wisdom teeth can stay impacted (emerged) as long as they don't create a pathway for bacteria to get in. it's a "let sleeping dogs lie" kinda thing.

The first 2-3 days suck ass. The following 7 suck because the temporary stitches are annoying. Just make sure your rinse out those holes with the plastic syringe thing that the surgeon gave you after every single meal/snack you have and make sure you clean it really well. If you don't then the stitches will not go away nearly as fast which really sucks. Beyond the first 10 days, it is pretty easy but you will not recover 100% for at least a month.
