Wow you guys seem to be having some bad experiences. I got my wisdom teeth out, I was back to normal within 48 hours. Never used a single vicodin. Recovered completely within 4 days.

I guess I'm just tough, but I really wanted my wisdom teeth out. They were swinging all over the place, pushing my teeth around, hurting occasionally, and making my cheeks look fat.

Sometimes the operation is more complicated. If all your teeth are out it's not as bad. If they gotta cut in and break it apart and then pull it out, the operation's worse. That's why they put you to sleep for that.

IT's easier when your mouth is larger and isn't crowded already. Less painful, less need to put you to sleep, etc. Also depends on how many you get out. So I've heard of people getting 1 out at a time and it wasn't a problem.

I had a speedy recovery for 4 taken out with 2 being unexposed teeth so they had to crack it open. I've heard of people going through nightmares with 4 taken out. I had a friend who ate congee for lunch in high school for like a freaking month. Looking back at that I think he was a pussy and I said it to him then. I went for steak on day 3. Shrug. I mean I got pains, but I don't see how terrible the whole thing could be. You get the same pains when your baby molars are about to fall out too. Maybe it's a little more painful, but honestly braces hurt like a beotch when you get them tightened. I'd say it's comparable. Maybe I went through too much of that wisdom teeth was a joke.
 
I was put out for my wisdom teeth (all deeply impacted)

I used zero pain killer... i didn't even bother with a tylenol because I knew it wouldn't do squat.

The pain was so bad i was in tears... not crying but literally my eyes were watering like faucets and there was nothing i could do to stop it.

I basically groaned myself to sleep and felt much better in the morning.
 
When I had one pulled I was given Tylenol 3s. Only used 2(1 per 2 times) overall and after 20 minutes all the pain was gone. It came out quite easily though, so that probably helped.
 
I had my wisdom teeth extracted without my permission.
I was a POW during the vietnam war and my captors pulled one wisdom tooth a day using only a pair of pliers.

I can remember it like it was yesterday......
 
I was given a shot and got as far as 97 counting backwards from 100. When I woke up, I vaguely remember flirting with the dental assistants who were ridiculously hot, which I noticed when walking in.

Had the hardest time trying to get into my dad's truck and my mom was laughing at me. Overall, I wasnt in too much pain and took 3 days off from work while I was healing. I still felt like shit when I went back to work on the 4th day.

one was exposed, the other were still beneath the gum, i rushed the procedure cause right now my insurance is great and my policy is changing next year.

Im 18 and it fucking hurt, i don't care what people say.

I got all 4 taken out (while awake with local), popped a few Advil, and drove myself from Austin to San Antonio for the weekend. Either my surgeon did an awesome job, or you're a total pussy. 🙂

it's a case by case thing. some people are going to have easy, pop it out in one tug, extractions and then for others it's going to be a game of tug of war and the teeth aren't going to slip out easily.

when i had all 4 pulled at once, a friend of mine told me to smoke thru my nose when i said i wanted a smoke. just to piss him off i tried it, lol. wasnt as harsh as i thought it would be, but i still didnt do it past that once.

hehe wondered if you would. that was like 19 years ago i tried it, and since then ive done it many times as a bar joke. even got a few free drinks from it. menthols are very refreshing, lol

cool thing was, i didnt have to worry about it. swelling went down the next day, not much pain. i was eating regular the next nite and smoking the next day lol.
 
I just had two removed recently because they had bad decay. General anesthetic. Went out in 5 seconds, next thing I know I was waking up feeling drowsy and dizzy, but no pain. Took a cab home (although I felt good enough to drive after about an hour). I kept ice/hot packs on it, but had almost no pain. I was prescribed some pain killers but never needed them. I ended up able to eat soup and pasta the same night, and was back to normal in 2 days. Best maxillofacial surgeon EVER! I've had more discomfort from general dental cleanings then this!

Yeah, I was knocked the fuck out. Only pain meds I had were administered during the procedure. After that it was just tylenol.
