wiring amp and speakers to 2 ohms?

How exactly is this done? I have a 4 channel amp, that I have yet to install. The specs state 45 x 4 at 4 ohms, and 60 x 4 at 2 ohms. so I want to wire them into 2 ohms. unfortunately, i have no idea how that is done. can anyone shed some light? thanks.

What is the impedence of the speakers? They are most likely 4ohm... so unless you have DVC speakers or want to parallel a set of speakers together to get a 2ohm load... the amp is only gonna see the 4ohm load. You would hardly notice a difference between 45 and 60w anyways.

Two 4 ohm speakers in series = 8 ohms
Two 4 ohm speakers in parallel = 2 ohms

Bridge your amp to one channel. Hook up both positives on the speakers together with 1 piece of wire, and then both negatives with one piece of wire(But do not connect positive to negative!)

Connect positive of one speaker (Either one) to positive on amp. Same as with negative.

Understand?

(Hydro beat me to it. 😀)

so u bridge the front channel? for the both front speakers? then how do u adjust the left and right fader controls?

Note that by connecting in parallel or series you lose the stereo effect, creating mono in either the front or rear.
Dont do it.
Wire 1 channel to 1 speaker or 1 component speaker side.

When you bridge a 4 channel amp, you bridge it into 2 channels. So your amp will actually be running 120 X 2. It will run super friggin hot though. Better have a good amp. You really don't have to bridge it, but it gives you ALOT more power. Read the instructions how to do it. Usually you do it at the output.

Left channel = 1 Channel
Right channel = 2 Channel

so, when the manual says 60x4 it only really means 120x2 and since 2 speakers are hooked up to one channel is 60x4?
