Wiresless LAN Transfer Speeds

Since I'm Pretty new to to the whole wireless network thing. I'd thought I'd start here.

I'm running 802.11n on a single band Asus RT-n16. [Tomato USB Version 1.28]

I'm doing a LAN Transfer of Large Files 1GB Plus using between computers. They are about 30 feet from the router. Both are using old school HDD. I'm getting about 2MBps

What can I do to see an improvement. Besides moving the computers closer to the router

That's about what I get on wireless-g when the network isn't busy. is one of the two computers using wireless G or do you have another device on your network using G? Or are there a lot of walls/stuff in the 30 feet between the computers and the router?
