The mic I have now is a pain in the arse, but I don't know if I'll be able to find anything better. What I need is a wireless mic that somehow attaches to the headphones I already own. I don't want to buy a whole headset since I've already got some really nice headphones.

Right now I'm using this one which is made to attach to your headphone cord, but the wire is annoying as hell and it doesn't stay on the headphone cord very well (it's not adjustable or anything). Plus it doesn't work half the time...but actually I think that's due to my computer or Steam related.

Anything out there for meeee? I figure there's a lot of other gamers in the same boat that want a wireless mic but already have nice headphones.

Gawh, I hate that headset.

Anyway, a better alternative might be to find a mic that you can place on your desk two feet or so away from you that can pick up your voice properly. A wireless mic will need batteries and a transmitter which might make it bulky. Beyond this I can't help.

That wouldn't really work with my desk setup...unless the mic is like 4 feet long :p - I think I'll be able to find something...or maybe I can rig up something. Duct tape can solve many problems.

bump

I do believe I'm stuck with this Zalman. No other options really out there for what I'm looking for.

Try a bluetooth headset? If you have one for your phone, just get a USB adapter and get yourself synched with your PC.

Good shout.

I use my Jawbone II to chat over the net when I cannot be hassled with a cabled connection. I have a 47" HDTV so sit quite a way away from the PC.

Call quality isnt as good as a wired headset but its acceptable.

Don't think any kind of bluetooth headset would fit under my headphones...but I dunno, I haven't really looked at them. Also the mic of the bluetooth might be blocked by the ear of my headphones.

When I had that Zalman mic I actually sleeved it and my headphone cable together because the 3 lame clips never stayed on. This way, you saw "one" cable and didnt have to worry about it falling off or snagging on your shirt/desk.

Have you looked at the Matrix Pro Wireless Lavalier? It's around $30 but I haven't seen any reviews for it.

I had this issue a while back and could never find just the right thing to solve the problem. On a completely random note, some people in my family decided to get webcams, and I got one also. I ended up using the webcam's microphone for gaming and have used it ever since. It's a logitech and has a noise cancellation feature, it works quite well with headphones.
