Wireless woes...

I have bought a Linksys Wireless B AP/Router and a PCI Wireless-B Card for my bro's comp upstairs to share my cable. The router has an direct RJ45 cable connected to my own comp downstairs and the PCI installed upstairs. Setting up and everything was easy enough, and soon enough I was surfing the net on both comps. But right away I noticed a problem where my connection constantly disconnects. It is impossible to download files that take longer than 1-2 minutes, my Trillian always disconnects every once in awhile, and webpages thats graphic intensive don't load up completely. Sometimes websites show up with a error page, but a quick refresh always works, which is leading me to believe that the connection hangs up every so often.

The things I have tried to fix the problem was shutting off IEEE 802.1x authentication, having it connect to Access point networks only, made sure it don't automatically connect to non-preferred networks. I've even shut off Wireless Zero Configuration, but while it has helped with my online gaming, the downloads and web-browsing is still doing the same thing. Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated =).
