Does vpn on vpn endpoint routers work on the lan side?
 
Depends. I doubt it does on the cheapies, but should on the enterprise class products.

Sounds like you are trying to encrypt from the access point to an endpoint in your LAN. WHY?
You want to encrypt traffic from the laptop's (or wireless clinets) to or thru the AP as that is where you are vulnerable, not from the Lan-to-LAN (which should be plugged in by a wire), unless you are planning something completely different, but since u didn't elaborate on anything, there ya go!

All the network resources would be on the wired lan and would have to go through the WAP. I am just wanting the wireless to be a little more secure than wep. I was thinking of using something like Astaro(free for noncommercial). I know SHH's Sentinal used to be free for noncommercial use but I can't find it.
