Wireless Video

It's easy enough to run a pair of cables from my PC to my TV, to send audio/video over, but is there something that allows me to do it via broadcast? All of the wireless solutions I can see have a sender module and a receiver module that broadcasts via the 2.4GHz frequency. I'm looking to find something that will broadcast on a particular channel. I only need to go up to 35 feet or so. I'm trying to broadcast from my PC to all of the TVs in my house. That way I can run a movie to all my TVs or if I just want to have a music channel, I can just set my PC to play and have it everywhere.

As a side note, many people I've spoken with seem to think it's illegal. I know the FCC allows short-range broadcasts in the analog spectrum, similar to HAM regulations, but I can't find the device that allows me to do it. I know it's out there. Anyone know of any products?

The device doesn't need to be a PC device, just A/V. I can connect the A/V from my PC to the device fine, but I would also have the ability to hook it up to my DVD player or VCR (yes, I still have one).

Doubt it, and if you could quality would probably be horrible.

There are many ways to stream audio/video from PCs to devices wirelessly and the basics are the same. But for video, wireless won't cut it. You'll need a wired connection (preferably gigabit) for watchable video.

I tinkered with this a while back and it was... ehh... unsatisfying. SDTV picture quality was rather poor and it was prone to interference from other devices.

Sounds like you need a chip for every device. My interpretation of what he wanted to do was just broadcast OTA the PC signal in someway that the TVs could pick it up.

That's exactly what I want. I can't believe that with all the wireless transmissions done, this isn't really possible. There's got to be some device that'll let me do it.

What devices did you try? Perhaps they have a better model. At least it's a starting point.

The hardware exists, but I doubt at a consumer level. You're looking at several thousand dollars worth of equipment, imo.
