Wireless ve Wired? Poll

If your wireless clients internet speed is below your wired you have one of two problems. Poorly designed WLAN or crappy equipment that needs to be replaced. Either that or perhaps you have 802.11b gear and your internet connection is faster than 5 or 6 Mb. In other words, slower than the broadband connection. There should be zero different on all but a very select few broadband connections, with 802.11b gear. With .11g it's a non issue unless you have a T-3 or something absurd like that.

As ktwebb said, if your wireless connection is working properly, then there should be virtually no difference in Internet access speed between wired and wireless. If your connection is slow when using wireless, then you need to figure out what is wrong with the wireless connection itself. If this is the case, post your specs, network config, etc. here and we'll see if we can get you working correctly.

I tested with DSL speed, my wireless laptop is about the same speed with my wired pc on the average of 1.4MBps. I am going to test again once I get 3.0 package from Verizon soon.

my wireless is less than half the speed of wired. I have a 5mbit down connection, and on my wired, i can get a real life sustained download rate of up to 480KiloBytes. On my 801.11b wireless, i can only hit 200Kilo's tops.

How far away were you from the AP? 802.11B has been known to degrade over a fairly short distance.

Wireless is always slower if it is secured with WEP or esp with WPA....if you're not using any security, then yeah, they'll be the same.

No way is wireless the same speed if it is locked down...do Pre-N if you'd like, its not as fast.
