Wireless Users, Need Your Help

Go to teh command prompt and type in ping <router address> -n 1000

Every now and then either a packet is lost or it goes up to like 500 ms. Is this normal behavior for wireless? Is it just the nature of wireless, or should I do more tweaking?

BTW, the router sits in the room directly above and one right of the computer room.

Ping statistics for 192.168.1.1:
Packets: Sent = 710, Received = 710, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 784ms, Average = 8ms

What do you think?

Your average ping time is 8ms, which is a bit high but not too bad considering the spikes. Infrequent spikes to high ping times on your wireless connection probably means that something nearby is causing some intermittent interference. Possibly a 2.4Ghz cordless phone or other electronic device that is not active all of the time.

not too bad at all...I'm a bit higher then that across me 3 wireless hops to the internet (pinging providers gateway).
