let me make myself clear, i HATE wireless. i think it's such a gimmick. this is my setup:

lan 1 ============= AP Router ---------------------- AP ====================lan 2

i have the DI-614+ as a router and the DFL-900+ for the AP. i have a better chance at winning a 9 figure powerball than being able to connect to my network. when it connects, it is pretty convenient, but i have to break all my limbs one by one just to be even able to connect. i have a feeling that it's this f---ing d-link hardware. lan1 is in the basement, but i ran a wire to the first floor of my house where i have the router located. my ap is on the second floor, and isnt behind any thick walls. i have the latest firmware and am STILL PULLING MY HAIR OUT!!!

im at the point where i am willing to sell all $300 of this worthless POS equipment and just drill holes in my walls and run some good ol cat 5. ARRGHH!!1 :|:|:|

I am not really clear on how you have this configured. Is the second AP being used in Client mode, as a repeater (<---both wireless options) or do you have a patch cable from a port on your Router/AP's switch?

A few more details about your configuration please. Do you get any signal at all, etc?

ok, the AP is being used as a client. this is the only way i could communicate with the router

as for my lan 1 is concerned, i have a Win2k server running ISA server that does all my internet sharing, and firewalling. the router is just used to put that network available to wireless clients.

i am able to get a connection whenever the AP doesnt feel like being a POS.

the ==== line means hardwired. the ---- line means wireless.

He's a little confused. Wi-Fi is 802.11b. In your case using the TI radios at 22 Mb, thus the +.
As far as your problem is concerned, is there a software utility that shows what your signal strenth and noise levels are (quality) for the client to parent AP association?

well i have the AP plugged into my D-Link switch. therefore it puts the entire switch on hte wireless network the same way that the router does so with lan1. i can't have any software to track it.

when i bring my laptop upstairs with it's Microsoft wireless usb adapter, i am getting an almost perfect connection with 11Mbps as the speed. this thing never drops it's connection.

my cousin taps into my lan 1 except he is using a linksys wireless router and just an orinoco adapter for his laptop. (we are in the same house) he has the same problem too. he has inconsistent connection

i think i fixed this POS.

what i did was i changed the AP from wireless client to wireless bridge and it seems to be working faster.

i can't speak about the stability just yet, but as always, tech support is useless. the dude said i had it configured properly and it should be operating as a client. bridge seemed to make more sense to me but thats what i get for listening to others.

anyways, the lights seem to be working much more correctly now. it used to be constantly on, but now it only blinks when there is a transfer of data.

That's what I was about to suggest or buy a pair of good wireless bridges from cisco. AP's don't really do the job of bridging very well, and with the outdoor "rubber ducky" unidirectional anteanae instead of the omnidirectional you can get line of sight and get much better ranges and speeds. I've done this several times in the past for linking two buildings accross a street.
