Wireless speed check?

Hi Gang,

I'm curious what download and upload speeds you guys are getting on your new Smartphones. If you could run the Speedtest app and post your results here, I'd appreciate it.

It seems that Verizon recently upgraded their network around where I work, and I now get 14 Mbit download and 9 Mbit upload on a 4G LTE connection on my Galaxy S3. At home, I get around 9 Mbit down and 3 Mbit up.

I get 9/6 mbps at home in the middle of the city, and 15/3 mbps at our family cabin in the middle of nowhere (at least 30 miles away from the nearest cell tower). So the system upgrades are definitely not finished yet.

XLTE has helped Verizon reclaim the speed king status. AT&T needs to desperately continue refarming their 1900 band and announce carrier aggregation ASAP. I think they have enough spectrum if they reallocate the 1900 and 850 bands appropriately. Plus they've picked up some new bands like 29 as well.

Just tested my AT&T and Verizon phones. Not sure what the hell is up with AT&T this morning, I don't think they are normally this slow.

AT&T LTE: 1.5Mbps
Verizon "XLTE": 15Mpbs.

With 1-3 bars indoors, usually get 10mbps
Typically get ~20mbps, nyc region

peak was 75 mbps in seattle, probably on 20+20 or 15+15

FYI the Verizon speed upgrades (xlte) are only for compatible phones. The galaxy s3 is not one of them I believe.

Yeah... that's one of the things that I was hoping to learn. I'm curious how much faster the network is for... say... a Galaxy S5 owner in the NYC metro area.

Pretty damn pricey though. I'm going with the 100 down/20 up program. I hope it's a huge difference from the 50 down/7 up or whatever the hell I have currently.

I hope you realize that these results will mean nothing for you. Everyone is testing at different times of day. My test now is 7.02 down, 22.72 up. However if I test it again when I get up at 5, it will be around 30 both ways.

I get 80/30 at work on my S5.

This is on a Galaxy s5 on T-Mobile from Plantation FL. Verizon at this same location was half this speed with a Galaxy s3(I assume much better on xlte). This was at 7:30PM this evening. For a mobile device I feel this is plenty.
