wireless speakers

Just wondering if there are any decent wireless speakers? I dont mean wireless as in running on batteries, but wireless as in i dont have to plug an audio cable into them.

I've seen some decent looking entry level 5.1 audio speakers ... i'd like to be able to use one. But i really dont want to have wires running all over my room, nor do i really want to take the time to properly run the wires around the room.

Just wondering if there are any decent surround sound speaker setups that are wireless ... or any wireless adapters for wired speakers. Preferably something not too expensive 🙂

I haven't seen any yet, but Logitech did a survey a couple of months ago asking customer opinions on potential products, one of which was a 5.1 speaker system with wireless rear speakers. They would each have to plug into the wall, but don't need speaker wire running back to them.

yeah a power chord i dont mind ... in fact i want a power chord, i dont want to have to replace batteries. I just dont want audio cables running all over the place from my PC. (or living room if i decided to use it on my tv).

I'll do some digging around. I would be surprised if there isnt at least 1 or 2 wireless speakers or wireless speaker adapters around somewhere.

having a power cord wouldn't be bad, but I wouldn't want either. Maybe they could make one with battery/cord available.

I've wondered why these haven't become introduced/popular lately esp. with new innovations in the sound department getting more and more rare these days.

Here is a good article that discusses wireless speakers and some of thier shortcomings.

Seems like overall the sound quality isn't very good. And I don't see any sets that would work specifically for a 5.1/6.1/or 7.1 setup. These look to be designed mainly for having 1 speaker off somewhere by itself or in the more expensive sets you can choose whether it is a L or R speaker for stereo, but don't see much as far as surround goes if that is your ultimate goal.

hmm ... bummer. Maybe i'll just have to consider either tripping over audio cables (and in turn ripping the speakers off the walls) or not being lazy and run the cables correctly 🙂
