Wireless Router with these specs?

1) Will handle both 802.11 G and N connections without slowing down the N connections. Believe this is what dual band means?

2) Gigabit wired ports, 4 seems to be the standard and that is fine

3) 2 USB ports that can handle either a printer on each, or a printer on one and use the other for NAS

4) Firmware to allow user to set port forwarding (think this is fairly common now)

Clients will be:
  • Gig wired PC
  • 2nd Gig wired PC
  • Wireless N Notebook
  • Wireless N Gaming Console
  • Wireless G Netbook
  • Wireless G Gaming Console
  • 3rd Gig wired PC

I am looking to spend under $100.00 US. Any suggestions? Thank you.

for option 1) you are correct that is what dual band means
for option 2) yes pretty standard
for option 3) not sure, never seen any myself
for option 4) yes it is standard.

For the price, I have not personally seen any dual band routers for under $100 us that include the 1 usb port. just did a quick search on newegg and most are at 129 and up

Most routers I assume could be hooked up with a USB hub and you get more than 1 USB port.

That would be great if true, but I doubt that it works that way since the router has to handle the packets going to the attached printer or NAS device. So the USB hub would have to be IP smart as well. Hope I am wrong and you are right however! 🙂

Well I know for sure of one router (Airport Extreme), that is able to be hooked up with a USB hub.

Performance wise these USB servers s*x.

Giving the current price of Network ready printers and NAS' using them to save few $$ is a sign of ""masochism"". 🙄 - 😀

Dual band is actually 2.4 and 5 gigahertz

I personally have the Asus RT-N16

This thing is great I just use the firmware that came with it. But you can use Tomato or DD-WRT.

My old router (Dlink) would drop connections and time out for the internet. I have 4 people playing BF42 and CoD WaW and surfing without so much as a hiccup.
