I have a FVS318 and I just got a D-link dir-655. THe FVS318 is used to route to 8 different locations in my house. On one of those locations I want to install the wireless dir-655 and have an existing computer hooked up to one of the ethernet points will using the wireless router. Is this possible?

Or maybe I could have the wireless router be first then connect it to the wired FVS318? Please help me out.

Thank you in advance

but if I make it an access point will I still be able to use one of the 4 ethernet ports on the back of the wireless router?

So I am guessing it would be better for me to run the wireless router off of the wired router not the other way around, correct?

doesnt matter...it's more so dependant on where you want wireless coverage. whichever scenario better suits your needs, go for it.

It would be better to use the Wired Router as the main Router and use the Wireless as a passive switch with an access point.

Since you are Not going to use the Wireless Router as a Router you bypass the Routing part of the device, and thus any setting that is Not specific to the Wireless communication should be void.

DNS, DHCP, etc., all should be provided by the Main Router. Only Wireless security should be the function of the Wireless unit.
