Wireless router question

I just picked up a wireless router ( Linksys BEFW11S4 v2)and hooked it up in my apartment in Memphis. I plugged it up, got it running. No problems.

Well, I'm in Florida with my folks for a couple of weeks so I decided to bring it with me. I can't get it to work here. For some reason, the router will not get a WAN ip address from the ISP. The ISP (Cox) says they do not require a specific hostname or domain (they allow routers, but do not give technical support for them).

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? I've upgraded the firmware and still nothing. The pdf manuals are vague, telling me I have a problem, but not telling me how to fix it.

Well, that is good if you assume that your Memphis ISP, and Cox Florida are coordinating between them the same system with the same clients and same security arrangement.

Try to clone your parent?s NIC MAC number to your Router.

I second that. It seems that you would need to clone the MAC address that was previously pulling the IP address.

Basic fix is to shutdown the computer, router, and DSL modem. It may seem basic but turning off the modem is key when installing a new router. If you did do this already sorry for wasting your read time.

Tried it all. Spent 3 hours on the phone ( over several calls) with the Linksys tech crew. Nada.

Got a Dlink.. 30 seconds it was working.

Not gonna bash Linksys, because I got it working in 30 seconds in Memphis too.
Router may have been damaged en route. Shrug.

Thanks for the help guys.
