I have a cable connection that is going through an SMC wireless router. I had two computers connected via the wired connections, and we just added a laptop that uses an SMC wireless PCMCIA card. I also plan to put together another system a little later in the year.
SO... at this point I figured it would be cool to set up file sharing between the computers and set up a little network. I'm running WinXP on one desktop and the laptop and Win98 on the other desktop.
When I started the network setup wizard on WinXP and went through the setup, I got several warnings and alarms from windows telling me that its not safe to share files between my computers because they are all connected to the router, and therefore the internet.
I stopped the process there, but I'm wondering whether or not I should listen and just how insecure the files and computers would be because of the setup.
Note: I'm not running a business or anything on these computers, these would just be pictures, videos, and other stuff that I don't want to burn on a CD to transfer.
Thanks for any help!
