Wireless router/cable modem question

Hey all,
Here is a quick question. I have RR Cable Internet thru TWC and i was supplied a modem when they installed the service. As of lately, I have been wanting to add a wireless router so that when my sister and friends come over, they can hook right up with their laptops. My question is this, is there such a thing as a wireless cable modem? and if there is, would i be able to use it with my existing service, or do i have to pay for wireless thru Time Warner for the modem to work

You get a Wireless Cable/DSL Router and you hook it to the current Modem given to you by RR.

But first do some reading.

Ignore the prices in the links above. Stick to the principles.

The same or similar hardware can be found for 60%-90% less.
