Wireless router buying help

Hey guys im needing some help choosing a good gaming/downloading router.
When i plug my main router with a ethernet cable into my mac im getting 500kb downloads and then I went out and bought a belkin n600 thinking it was going to give me 500kbs downloads wirelessly also but its only giving me 300-350kbs. Im about 25feet away from the wireless router. Do you guys know what the problem is? Is there any routers you guys recommend for beasty gameplay without lag and good 500kb download speeds? for in the 150$ range. THANKS!

If the signal is strong and good as it should in the same room that the Router is, then it might be that there is No "Magic" Wireless Router that will work much better through your walls and you have to extend the Wireless through another means.

Otherwise best result can be achieved with a Dual Radio Wireless Router with a matching Dual Radio client card.

You can see some great gaming wireless router here, and I recommend Netgear WNDR4500 N900, the price is around $150, my friend and I had bought this router 2 months ago, playing many games without lag,

With "a couple of walls" I would certainly recommend the Asus RT-N66U.

However, pretty much anything has to be better than what you have now. Even 400 KB/s (3.2 Mb/s) is absolutely horrible at that distance, unless you put the access point in a Faraday cage. For reference, with the RT-N66U, I get at least 40 Mb/s at pretty much the same distance, with a concrete slab in the middle, over 2.4GHz with a PCI-e adapter connected to high-gain antennas.
