Wireless Printer Install Help

I just picked up a Brother HL-2270DW printer, and am having a heck of a time with it. Here's my setup:

Upstairs, System A: Linksys E3000 running Tomato USB 1.28 (connects directly to cable modem). PC is an i5-2500k/Z68 system running Win8 Pro

Downstairs, System B: Linksys WRT-42G running stock, connected to internet through a powerline 200Mpbs system, using same SSID as upstairs wireless, but different channel. PC is an E8500 running Win7 Pro.

For some reason, I can't get the wireless printer to work Upstairs (system A). It will install and work fine downstairs, but that's not my preferred location.

Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks for reading!

See page 21 of the E3000 User Manual on using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) to connect other WPS enabled wireless devices on your network. The Brother printer and the E3000 both support WPS so it shouldn't be any more to setup than pressing the WPS button on the Brother (see page 16 of the Brother HL-2270DW Setup Guide), and then pressing the WPS button on the E3000.

Printer isn't listed in the network when I try on System A Upstairs, but it works fine on the downstairs system.

I can't use WPS on the E3000, as I have the firmware flashed to run Tomato. Maybe I should revert back...
 
Is the downstairs Linksys router set up as an access point or as a router? To do what you want, it needs to be set up as an access point with DHCP disabled and with the powerline adapter plugged into one of the LAN ports (not the Internet/WAN port).

Yes, it is set-up as an access point - I don't remember if DHCP is disabled - how would I verify that? But the powerline is indeed plugged into a LAN port, not the Internet port. I don't have any issues transitioning wireless devices between the upstairs and downstairs.

I suspect something is going on with my upstairs Tomato USB set-up. There are so many settings on it though, I just don't know what I would need to change.
