i have a usb printer (samsung 1710) that I want to put some distance away from the PC (6-10m)

I have an 11b router, can anyone tell me if a USB 11b dongle straight into the printer will allow the printer to connect ?

(or another option, two bluetooth dongles: one for PC, one for the printer, would that work?)

The only way I've connected a USB printer is with a specific print server that is designed to interface to a USB printer. I don't think you can just connect a USB wireless adapter to a USB printer and ever expect it to work.

you can't do that. the printer wont print. you need to buy a print server, either a wrieless or wired. linksys makes them.

For peeps looking for printer with integral wired/wireless support - the HP 2510 is working pretty well for me.

I'd be somewhat careful with a really long USB cable, I've seen a number of USB devices choke on long cables.

Bluetooth printer adapter for usb printers. $40.
I'd do some more research and see if there is a more popular brand available and check on what sort of distance you can get with it.

hmm...on second look, it seems to only support certain inkjets?

awesome, need one that supports my printer now...
