Wireless Networking

Does anyone know if there are some cable/dsl router that you can disable the firewall (to play online games)?

I'm looking at the SMC router and the D-link....they seem to have the best feedback from users(cnet.com).

If you have suggestions or feeback on any wireless hardware, please posts them.

Thank you

Disable the firewall? Hmm, don't think you can do that on any routers, but someone else might have more info.

I wanted to chime in and say that the SMC Barricade Wireless router is top-notch, go for that one, definitely! 😀

If you still need adapters for the clients, be sure to get ORiNOCO gold or silver card and/or USB adapters.

Most SOHO routers allow you to designate a station on the internal network as the "DMZ" machine, which opens that machine up to the outside world completely.
Normally, only one machine at a time can be in "DMZ" mode.

SMC and D-Link Wireless are the same OEM you better off with the SMC.

As for firewalls, no capacity to disable.

Either do what TallGeese indicated, or and open variety of ports to all Network computers.

i have tried many many routers and finally am using the SMC Barricade. it's a nice unit, it has a couple small issues like anything else, but has great recepetion. I also think orinico wireless is without doubt the only way to go in usb / pci clients. good luck!
