Wireless Networking - who to invest in?

Are any companies dominating this market at the moment? I have heard a lot about many places getting set-up for wireless networking and want to investigatte investing in this area. Where to start, Bluetooth?
 
invest in whatever company will benefit from the security holes all the existing technologies have
 
In semiconductors, Intersil, ISIL, is #1 in 802.11b networking. About 30% of their revenues comes from wireless networking. They provide chips to Cisco, Dlink, Linksys, etc. They practically wrote the 802.11b protocol. They also practically wrote the 802.11g protocol which is going to start appearing soon too.

The company is no secret in the investment community though, which I am a part of.

Agere, AGR, is #2 in 802.11b wireless networking. Proxim, PROX, also does wireless networking but mainly 802.11a with some b. Texas Instruments and RF Micro also have revenues from 802.11b but they are both missing parts from the 802.11b chipset.

There are alot of other companies working on wireless networking, public and private, so it will be a crowded space soon.

But make no mistake, none of this stuff is a secret on Wall Street. There are always write ups on this sector. In fact, this weekend's Barrons had something on Intersil.

i know a guy that works for verizon and he says lucent is a no go. he says all the telco equipment that is lucent is being replaced by other manufacturers.
 
Lucent has nothing to do with Agere. Agere was spun off of Lucent and will be completely spun off in a few months.

Lucent is a telecom infrastructure equipment company. Wireless networking and Bluetooth are both local area technologies.

Gee thanks, but I am looking for company names, so that I can do my own due diligence. I'd be glad to share a report I wrote on a company a year or so ago and you can check my conclusions with the current price if you like...
