wireless networking - usb - or pci

Well this is the situation, my father has cable, feeding into a linksys router.
I want to feed off of it obviously.
Would i be better off going with the linksys usb or is a d-link usb just as good, or will there be compatibility issues?
Reason is, i can get a better price on the d-link from my buddy at $hit Buy (who works there).
