Im mostly a PC person, only know the basics when it comes down to Apples and Im having an issue setting up a wireless network on a PowerBook G4. The wireless network has a WEP encryption and does not broadcast its SSID, so every time I want to connect to it I have to manually enter the network name and password. I know how to get around this on a PC, but how do I setup this Mac to remember the network and automatically connect to it even though it is not broadcasting?

There should be a check box to have it remember. Also, what OS are you using on this PowerBook G4?

I had a similar issue for a while when I had my router set not to broadcast its SSID. As far as I can tell, there is no way to make it automatically connect. Automatic connection takes place when it sees the SSID, so it would be a little hard for it to work in this case. I was able to set it to remember the key just fine however. As TheStu said, there should be a check box.

The computer is running OSX 10.4.10.

When pull down the airport menu and click other to enter the network information, there is no box to check for it to remember the network.

You tell it to remember the password, not the network... Another option for security is to not mask the SSID, but to instead only to have the router allow approved MAC addresses.

Have you tried setting up Locations in the Network pref pane? (I'm assuming that Tiger has this feature)
