Wireless Network without a Broadband Connection

I have three XP machines that I'd like to network together. They're all equipped with wireless capability, and I have a Netgear MR814V2 wireless router. The problem is that I don't have a broadband connection, and therefore cannot set up the network per the instructions in the manual. Is there a way around this, so that they can be networked together without having a broadband internet connection? Also, is it possible to have ICS (internet connection sharing) with this configuration using a dial-up modem? Thanks in advance.

Yes. Just don't use the WAN port on the router and disable the DHCP service on it. You've just turned your Router/AP combo into a dedicated AP with an integrated switch. The ICS host will need to be directly connected to one of the LAN ports on your device, the switch part of it. That's it.

Actually, if this is his main router he needs DHCP enabled.

Thanks for the info ktwebb. My basic problem is that I can't get out of the starting gate; the instructions are to go to an IP address that I can't get to because I'm not connected to the net. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks JackMDS; I've been to those links before. Perhaps I'm missing something since my network knowledge is shallow. The router instructions give me an IP address to communicate with the router in order to configure it. How do I do that without being connected to broadband? Thanks
