I get a call from a friend who has a friend who needs a wireless network setup. So I went to meet with the guys here's what he has and what he wants.
Has
----
2 computers. One with 2000 pro, one with 98se.
AOL Dial-up connection, can't get cable or DSL
Wired network though a router
Wants
--------
Wireless network setup though all computers
New computer with XP pro
98se machine upgraded to XP pro
2 computers in the office, one in the garage
Both computers in the office share internet connection
All 3 computers share DVD-ROM's and Printer and selected Files.
They got all the wireless stuff but, 3 wireless cards and wireless router, both D-Link brands. The main computer that has the internet connection on it i'm not going to touch. it has win 2000 pro on it, i'm just going to do a virus scan and update and make sure everything is in working order. I'm going to upgrade the 98se machine to XP and build a new machine. Are there any special things I need to do to make this network work with dial-up or do the same things apply as if I was using cable?
