There are two units of measure.
Byte and Bit 8bits=1Byte. Example 7MB/sec (B=byte) is a transfer of 56Mb/sec. (b=bit).
Internet Explorer (as an example) shows the ?Speed? of transfer in Bytes.
If your FTP transfer is in Bytes 7MB/sec. would 56Mb/sec. It is on slow side of CAT5 but it is not so ?Terrible?
If your Wireless is 800KB/sec. it is like 6.4Mb/sec. which is a fast 802.11b but too slow for 802.11g.
In such a case you might want to look into the Wireless Card Utility and see what the settings are.
