Wireless network & share 56k connection???

Hey guys i picked up a netgear wgb511 wireless combo on black friday. I wanted to make a wireless network so I could get on the internet from my laptop in my living room. There i no phone jack in the living room so wireless is how I have to do it. I tried setting it up but I am having no luck at all. I'm running xp pro sp2 on one computer and xp home on the other. The 56k modem being used is an internal software modem. Please help me set this up.
