Wireless Network Security Woes

Recently I purchased a Lynksys Wireless B Broadband Router (BEFW11S4) and matching Lynksys 'B' PCMCIA card for my laptop.

When I first hooked the network a week or so ago everything worked like a charm - the laptop saw my network and all was good. This evening I was unable to see the network on my laptop so I had to do some fiddling. It seems as though my network is "not secure" even though I disabled SSID Broadcast.

I live in a condo, and I can see 1 or 2 other networks on occasion that require a password to connect to. So I take a look in my router config page and I see the security options. It seems as though whenever I enable any of these options, my laptop connects to the network for about 30 seconds, and then disconnects, and then reconnects etc etc.

I'm trying to use WPA Pre-Shared Key / TKIP / 5 letter shared pw / and 7000 second group renewal key.

The only way I can seem to remain connected is to disable security altogether. Am I doing something wrong?

hmm, so what should I do then? Use no security at all? I think I've got it working again to where I don't have to broadcast the SSID. If I don't broadcast it, and don't tell anyone what it is - could someone still find it and connect?
