my girlfriend has a laptop with WiFi capability. She just got cable internet which provided her with a wired cable modem. She doesnt want to rent the modem and wants to buy whatever it takes to make her wired connection wireless. What components does she need to buy? Thanks...
 
i guess a modem, if thats possible. ask the company if you can buy a compatible unit😛 i never used cable, just dsl so i dunno.
as for wifi, just buy a wireless router to connect to the modem. linksys is good. its time to find wifi sites and read up on it. lest u make a mess of the setup and leave her security wide open.
 
There are all in one solutions. Can't give you a model or Mfg off the top of my head. I've seen post of people talking about their Modem/Router/AP combo units though. I think the modem/wired router would probably be more common but ones with Wi-Fi functionality exist out there.
