wireless network problem

I have installed a wireless network here with a wireless access point and the network cards for the computers. This one I'm on right now is wireless (WinXP), but I'm having problems with my WinME machine, it doesn't seem to want to have the wireless work. It can detect the wireless access point, and link quality etc. is at 100%, but it just wont transmit/receive any data or won't connect to the internet. Do I need to disable my old NIC card? Please help, I don't know what to do.

Not really that much information to work with mate, networking is very complicated and detailed.

Yes you need to disable your old NIC cards, if they have been setup to use a cabled network.

Make sure the ME machine has been configured to use the Gateway PC (The one connected to the net).

Make sure you have ICS on >WinXP machine enabled.

Make sure workgroup names are the same.

Make sure they are not having any confilcts with address issues etc.

Er a few other things you can try but see what happens with that first.

Most likely you don't have TC/IP installed on the ME machaine?

www.practicallynetworked.com has some guides, they might help.

TCP/IP: go to Network Neighborhood "properites"and it should have an entry for TCP/IP. The properties for TCP/IP should be to "obtain address automatically."

If you didn't reboot at least once after installing the card in the 98 box then do so and check again to see if your net connection works now.

Also, Windows might still be set to connect to the internet using another card or a modem. Read The Friendly Manual that came with your card (or the PDF file, or website) for step-by-step instructions.
