Hi,
We're setting up a wireless network where we have a host computer in one area and a group of clients in another. We have a network connection near the clients that will connect to a wired vlan in order to access the data on the network, however the host PC needs to talk to the client PC's and there are no wired network connections available for the host PC or feasible for the clients. All of these will have static IP's.
What we're thinking about doing is using a basic wireless router and giving each of the clients and the host a wireless card, and plugging the router into the vlan connection. The only wildcard is the distance of the host, and the barriers between.
We could either connect a WAP to the host and use some sort of bridging mode, or we could use a high gain antenna, or we could setup some sort of repeater. I'm looking for suggestions on what would be the simplest and most reliable solution, and what consumer equipment would be ideal. We generally use linksys stuff for this kind of thing. Thanks in advance.
