I just built a new system using Gigabyte GN-WPKG Wireless card and downloaded the latest driver from their site. Everything installed with no problem on my windows XP.
except I keep getting disconnected everytime I launch the explorer. It will stay connect as soon as I launch the IE it will disconnect me.
Here's my setting. I have Netgear WGT624 version 2 router.
I have it set at WPA-PSK mode G only. Channel 3
On the card I also set it at WPA-PSK and data encryption is TKIP.
I use the same set up on my laptop and have no problem whatsoever connecting.
I don't think the card is bad because when I disable the encryption just to test it. I get steady signal. No signal loss.

This wireless thing is nice if it works but it's such a headache when it doesn't.
Could someone please help me out before I go insane.

Thanks

What it sounds like is the AP. I'm reading stuff for the Netgear WG624 v2 and it seems it has disconnect/reset issues. My feeling is that you get connected, but until you generate some sort of traffic then the pc realizes that you have no active connection (if that makes any sense).

I'd say upgrade the FW if you haven't already done so, otherwise get a new router =) (preferably like a linksys WRT54G for like 50 or a D-Link)

Well, the router has been working good for me so far with my Laptop and my roomate's laptop. I have the latest firmware by the way.
I don't have a cordless phone in my room but my roomate has 900MHZ cordless phone in his room though.
