Wireless network disconnection

One of the most common problems I have seen on this board as well as others is frequent disconnects from the network of computers that are connected wirelessly. I have also experienced this myself and in my research I haven't found a clear reason why it happens.

So I am creating this thread in hope that we can solve this annoying issue.

So here is what I'm looking for, preferrably in this format:

Gateway type and speed: (router?, access point?)/a,g,b
Device type on client pc and speed: (built in wifi card?, usb wifi?)/a/b/g
OS: (windows XP home/pro, linux/distro, mac, etc)
Gateway brand and model # and firmware version if available: (linksys, wrtg54)
Frequency: (once a week, once a day, once a month, every hour, random)

And lastly please post whether or not your issue has been resolved. If it has been resolved please post what you did to resolve it. If it hasn't been resolved please post what you have already tried.

Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.

Router B/G
Ethernet built in on PC and B/G wifi cardbus on laptop
Windows XP Pro SP2 and Win98se
Linksys WRTG54 firmware 4.20.7 and Airlink+ wireless cardbus

Never had a problem...Thank God.
