wireless mouse recomendations?

something with plenty of buttons that i can customize. i have a broken g700 mouse but don't want to go logitech this time.

wireless is a must. won't be used mainly for gaming but it seems that the gaming mice are the ones with the most/best options

i have a MS touch mouse but it's awful as it can't be programmed well enough and the left click pinches the skin on my thumb. bad microsoft, bad!

What did you not like about G700? Hard to recommend anything if we don't have a clear picture of your preferences - and clearly you do have preferences if G700 wasn't what you wanted from a mouse.

no no no, it's what i wanted, it's great but it's broken and logitech refused to do an advanced RMA (after going through the rigmarole of giving all PIDs, sending photos of mouse, box, piece of paper with PID written on it etc) and i can't be without a mouse for upto 14 days. i basically won't have a PC. due to the customer service 'mare i don't want another logitech product ever frankly.

i was looking at the MS sidewinder x8 but it's 3 years old now?

i like having customizable buttons so i can alt/tab with a press of 1, zoom in/out, back/forward with side buttons easily. that's it really 🙂

not that broken. i can't click down with the scroll wheel and the tilt left and right and flaky. some times register, sometimes don't (i use them as home and end on a web page). oh, the battery only lasts 2 days with average use too.

i'll RMA it after and leave it as a reserve. as i said i have the touch mouse but it's less usable than this broken g700.

Now I see why Logitech didn't want to do an advance RMA. Your current mouse isn't really broken, it's just experiencing normal wear and tear.

I would say to get another G700 and then swap between them every couple of years while you RMA.

it was like that in april. my older mx500 was still working. they will rma it but the lack of an aRMA option forces me to buy another. what disappointed me was all the stories of great customer service when i had none and the whole - we'll send you a new mouse, you then send us your old one, or a piece of it to prove it's been discarded somehow.

well, that and the fact they gave me the runaround with taking photos etc for nothing.

i don't want logitech again after this so can you please recommend an alternative?

It's hard because you don't like Microsoft either and those are the top two wireless mouse manufacturers. Those two and Razer are really the only companies that have good mouse software that will do the kind of remapping you want.

Razer has 2 mice that are wireless. The Naga has a million side buttons and costs $113. The Orochi is more of a standard mouse, but is kind of on the small side.

i don't like the MS touch. i've had MS mice in the past and they actually were good (but no recharging - a long time ago).

the naga sounds good but is wired. i'd have to have an extension cable (which i have) to get it to my lazyboy armrest.

i assume you mean this one?

OBLAMA - i've not had that experience with any decent optical mice. neither microsoft or logitech. the only probs (with older mice) were when the laser wouldn't read the surface properly - but haven't had that since before the mx500 aaages ago

The Naga is wired. The Naga Epic that I linked is wireless. Here is the Amazon.co.uk version.

so i should be getting the laser ones? i just have the cheapies

mfenn - that would be around $165 i believe. the others are around £60 - we get ripped on prices here 🙁

OBLAMA - a logitech (darkfield), microsoft (bluetrack i think) etc mouse should do you. honestly, i don't find any probs with the ones made in the last few years. but i've avoided the lower end ones.

the cheapies probably are less precise and may not register movement for a while. if you know anyone with a decent wireless mouse, ask to try it. will be much better than the cheaper ones - honest 🙂

I'd just send the g700 to RMA, buy a new G700, and then use the RMA-replacement G700 as a reserve or sell it

well, went for the razer naga wireless in the end - best packaging i've ever seen for a mouse! very nice. nice fit handwise too. just charging now. soon, soon a working scrollwheel will be mine!!!

Nice mouse. Way too many buttons for me.

I had my G7, Performance MX's all go the exact same way with the button clicks failing. Logitech unfortunately use a cheap switch that wears out quickly, presumably so you have to replace your mice often.

I would say however if you liked the G700 you just buy another one or live with a really cheap replacement for the 14 days waiting for an RMA. The 14 day cycle is pretty common in the industry, you'll not get much better from anyone else.

liking it. starting to make use of the 12 side buttons and setting up macros and stuff. very nice mouse though 🙂 best mouse packaging i've ever seen, love the magnetic clip on adjustments for the hand and a slot in battery like in my old panny lumix seems nice 🙂

yay, middle click is back

Yeah, same here. My G7 is around 4 or 5 years old now, so it's out of warranty. I still use it as my main mouse because the button clicks aren't at the point of complete frustration yet, but they're close.

When I do my next build I'll probably cave and get a new mouse.
