im setting up a single computer that will output to a normal TV on 2nd floor, and an HDTV on 1st floor. so i will need a wireless mouse and keyboard that can sucessfully penetrate my ceiling/floor

i saw an RF keyboard at Microcenter that said it had a range of 100 feet, but it was like $200. also saw a Yahoo! branded keyboard with range of 40 feet that cost like $70... but im not to keen on a Yahoo! brand keyboard... plus i saw no long range mice. any one know of any other options?

I'm wondering about this myself. I'm using tv out on my video card to output to the television about 50 feet away from the PC. I currently have logitech's navigator cordless desktop that doesn't work for this application, only has about a 15 foot range. I haven't looked into Bluetooth technology yet but maybe it's our solution. I Hope this helps :)

Unfortunately, I don't know about products that will work, but I do know Bluetooth likely won't work. From the link to Microsoft's site, a key phrase struck me, right from the first paragraph "industry-standard protocol that provides short-range wireless connections between Bluetooth devices" I then followed a link to www.bluetooth.com and found that the distance is about 10 meters (about 32 feet). Givin the distance of 40 feet and 50 feet mentioned, this solution doesn't seem like it will work. Perhaps the original poster (40 foot distance) might find this a viable alternative, as Bluetooth is not a line-of-sight technology?

yea, 20 - 30 feet would do it, its the going through walls part that makes it more difficult

If you only need 20-30 ft, check out the Micrsoft Bluetooth Desktop. It should do the trick, but it is a bit expensive at $160.00 (@Best Buy). But, as I said, this should work, as Bluetooth is able to go though walls/ceilings because it's RF. I don't know of any other Bluetooth keyboards/mice, but I'd bet Logitech has one available or soon to be available.
