Wireless Mouse interferes with 2nd Wireless Mouse?

Since I began using a wireless mouse last week, my wife has been complaining that her mouse has been acting up. We replaced the batteries in her mouse it didn't seem to have any effect. (Our computer desks are right next to one another.)

My mouse: Dynex wireless mouse (not a bad pickup for $7 shipped, new)

Her mouse: HP wireless mouse ($10 new on Black Friday)

Can wireless mice interfere with one another? Is there anything I could do about it? Her HP mouse is the only one that seems to be having a problem.

Get another mouse.

I use a Logitech G7 and MX1000 without any issues.

Yup they can. One department here went with some crappy Microsoft wireless mice and changed it (with no input from IT, since we always choose "expensive" stuff.)

It was hilarious that they all had mice jumping all around the screen randomly. We did some tests and sure enough, they were interfering with each other. Not a single one remains on their desks today -- but at least we got a ton of AA batteries.

I wonder if this wreaks havoc at college lectures when all of the students start up their laptops and wireless mice in close proximity.

i used to use two logitech wireless near each other with no problem.
they have atleast two channels, the older ones let you push a button on the bottom to switch..

Yes.. if they're on the same frequency or channel

Is there anything I could do about it?

Sometimes in the mouse software control panel, there is an option to change the transmitting channel. if not... you need to buy a different mouse.

Good quality wireless mice has an option to encrypt the communication im order to avoid these issues. You need to install the manufacturer's software.

Logitech supports this in all their mice, IIRC.
