I know the G7's the good ol' boy, but has anything better come out lately? I don't want to sacrifice usability and/or ergonomics for a few more dpi or slightly better velocity measuring.
 
I don't understand why they only gave the G7 one side button. I would have bought one were it not for that huge oversight.
 
I would consider seriously going 'wired'.

I have the Razer 'Death-Adder'. Son and I are very pleased.
 
Sidewinder X8. I have one. It replaced a Mamba which I returned. Best of both worlds with the easy ability to go wired or wireless. The magnetic coupling MS uses for the cord is brilliant.
