I don't understand the idea behind wireless mice or keyboards. Perhaps once every 4 months I spend 2 seconds (literally) adjusting my mouse cord. Those with cordless mice have to recharge theirs, or replace batteries. Why bother?
 
Some people absolutely hate the clutter of wires. Wireless mice/keyboard is 2 less wires they have to worry about.

EDIT: Plus you can take them across the room and type if you have a projector or a really big monitor.
 
I often watch movies across the room from my computer, and the wireless mouse, at the very least, lets me adjust the volume, pause, start the movie (stupid menus), etc. without having to get up and go to the computer each time.

Right now I'm using a Logitech G7. I paid a lot for it compared to other gaming mice ($100 for the black, carbon fiber special edition), but I love it. It looks great, it performs well, and it has two swappable batteries so I'm never caught with nothing to use.
 
Just get a remotewonder. It's got plugins that can control all your software. That's what I've had since 2002. Before that I had an AST remote.
 
I love trackball, but hate the wire that's attached to it. Logitech Cordless TrackMan Wheel FTW! Expensive though. There's also the Logitech Cordless Optical TrackMan. I like how the ball's controlled by your fore and middle fingers, but the other buttons are just too small.
 
I use a Wacom digitizing pad and stylus, and a wireless mouse that comes with it. On my laptop, I use a small wireless mouse - the wired mouse was always in the way and catching on things when travelling. On my desktop, the distance between mouse and computer is not far line of sight, but about 8 feet around stuff by wire. And that is not convenient. (Computer is on the floor under the desk, and requires a mouse extension cable to reach its location. Not cool.

Bottom line - use whatever suits your physical situation and heart's desire. 🙂

I've seen people use wireless mice to click through a PowerPoint presentation. For media stuff, I use my Firefly remote, which works well from the couch. You don't need to have a surface to use it on.
 
There's not much point to a wireless keyboard in most settings.

A wireless mouse, on the other hand, is great. There is nothing more annoying than having the cord hold you back especially if it gets tight and starts to pull.

On days where the seas are not so nice a corded mouse would have the advantage but I just have to remember to put mine in a drawer. 😛
 
The 1 major reason I only use wireless keyboards and mice is: I can't STAND the wires dropping almost to the ground, getting in the way of my legs! I would thread the cables under the desk so they don't look hideous, and they would always drop into my lap. I hate that! If I have to change batterys once every couple months, then so be it.
 
I have an MX1000, it's really quite awesome, I didn't think wireless was useful until I got it. It's rechargable so I don't have to change batteries. I don't really see the point of wireless KBs though, unless you watch movies and stuff.
 
I love my MX1000 as well. It can hold a charge for at least 3 days of gaming which is pretty darn good I think. At the end of each day though I put it back on the charger unit. One less wire to look at is nice IMO. Wireless Keyboards are nice if you like to sit back and put your feet up on the desk and place the keyboard in your lap or sit back on a couch or futon or whatever. One less wire to deal with for casual use.
 
i've been using a optical corded OEM i nabbed from my school's IT dept for... 3 years. I guess i need an upgrade 😛
 
Wireless is nice. I've been using a Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse for a long time but recently switched to a Razer Diamondback to see how I like that for gaming. The Razer works pretty well as it's a higher resolution optical sensor but I definitely miss the wireless. I'm wondering why Razer doesn't make any wireless versions of their mice? There must be a certain amount of lag introduced that becomes noticeable when you're gaming I'm guessing.
 
I don't like the way some cordless mice have a lag to them between moving it and the pointer on the screen moving. My roommate's mouse felt drifty because of that. And I'm too cheap to pay the price of one that doesn't have any lag 😛

Actually I need to replace my corded soon, it is wearing out (3+ year old logitech MX500).

Depends on the mouse. They do have limited range, some are really bad at more than 8 feet or so, others have longer range.
 
It's possible if you have near perfect LOS and not too much interference with decent transmitters.

I have a Remote Wonder II (came with my ATi TV Wonder Pro) and a wireless keyboard/mouse combo... sorry, but the RW2 does not even compete with a nice wireless setup (meaning software and hardware are both good). ATi couldn't serve out a decent piece of non-graphic software even if they tried... oh wait, that's why... they never try.

I used my wireless keyboard and mouse because I would watch videos (episodes usually) from my bed and I liked being able to switch with minimal get-up-out-of-bed effort 😛. Although my setup started acting a bit too funky for my taste so I switch to a Logitech G15 and a Logitech G5. Wires can still be a bit annoying to route nicely around LCDs and such =/.
 
The wireless mice work well with my laptop because I'm sometimes am a lazy person. I have my lappy on the desktop and while I'm in my recliner, the wireless mouse is at a comfortable level below the keyboard. It makes for very comfortable maneurvering without the bother or restriction of wiring. My other rigs work fine with wired mice.
 
I have a G5, cord is plenty long, and I put some clear hockey tape (very smooth stuff) on the back of my desk so it never catches. I put the G5 on a mouse pad and it feels great, plus I never have to change the batteries. And I don't care what G7 owners say the G5 looks and feels cooler 😛.

It also has weights so I can say that I'm lifting weights whenever I reposition my mouse.

Hah, take that activists, gaming nerds do get exercise!
 
i dislike mousewire drag. i feel it even with the cord slacked and clipped to the table/mat. i'venever had issues of interference even in the days of sh*tty 27mhz mice or whatever, those had ick refresh rates.
