Wireless mice & keyboards...how well do they really perform?

I've got a guy that wants to set up a rackmount system that'll be located behind the person sitting in front of the monitor and wants to go with a wireless mouse and keyboard. My past experience with these units have been pretty good but I've never had the chance to try something in this kind of situation. The system will be about 10' (max) behind the chair and the mouse/keyboard has to be able to communicate perfectly with the wireless base facing the opposite direction.

Is this possible? What are your experiences? If you actually have a logitech combo, would you be able to try it out and let me know your results? That would be very cool : )

Thanks.

i don't even use wireless mice on the computer i sit in front of. i have been to people's houses doing work for them and i hate those wireless mice. imo

i wouldn't trust it for your situation.

the logitech mx700 has excellent response. i don't know the range on it, but my mouse is about 5 ft from the base and works very well.

that's what I want to hear. Is the base in front of you or behind you? (I'm guessing front but you never know)

its directly to my right. they suggest moving the base from electronics as far as possible to reduce interference.
