Wireless Mice - Feedback

Wanting some feedback on wireless mice - considering the new MS Intellimouse. No experience with wireless devices. Are the real "touchy"? I kind of like to spread my "schtuff" all over the desk when I work and would find it very annoying if I'm having to have a perfect path for the mouse sensor all the time. Any feedback is appreciated...

i got a logitech 'by dell' wireless keyboard/mouse combo. Best damn 30bucks ive ever spent.
You dont need a clear path, its radio frequency. I got this combo by upgrading for 30 bux on the 449$ dell deal. Also got another 512 stick of ddr 266mhz for 120$.

it says it can only got 6 ft away, but i can go 20 ft away at the corner of my rooom and have the keyboard work and the mouse barly work.

Thanks for the input. I've never really tested one of these devices but it sure seems like a good way to go - as I said, I've already got enough clutter on the desk I'm not a huge gamer but I suppose the wireless mouse would not be the best bet for those who log mucho hours with games. At any rate, thanks again:)

I have had a couple of them! They all seem to be different to me I have had some that work great with no problems and some that just dont ! I would make sure that you bought a R/F model and not a I/F model!

I have the basi Logitech R/F model and it works great for games. Sometimes though I'll come to my desk and find the mouse acting kinda funny, almost like the batteries are running low. I just adjust the sensor, and I'm good to go again.

Just so everyone knows, I'm not blaming the mouse. The cat is the problem. :)

I have a MS wireless explorer.

For regular surfing and other everyday tasks it is great. For gaming, it really sucks, I still have my hard wire optical mouse that I keep plugged into my USB hub for gaming.

The wireless will "go to sleep" to save battery life if left still for a few moments, and get you killed almost every time when it tries to wake back up after being moved, and it seems a bit "jumpy" to me in gaming.

Surfing and stuff though, it rules.

I had a MS Intellimouse Wireless for a few days. I decided I hated it, & sold it. The biggest thing that pissed me off was the lag when it went to sleep. I understand WHY it did it, it just pissed me off. I bought a Logitech dual optical & haven't looked back.

I have one of the original logitech kb +mouse sets (don't think they manufacture this version anymore) and in windows, it works fine. In games, the keyboard is the bane of my existance. Sometimes it loses connection and a key acts like I'm still holding it down, when I'm not. So, i.e., I'm still going forward when I'm not touching the keyboard at all.

I've found wireless ok for desktop use but poor for gaming. They are too heavy for when gaming :disgust:

I like my MS Optical one better than a wireless. Once the technology improves I might take another look at them.

I have the Aopen wireless mouse. It has a real nice refresh rate, 80Hz, and the resolution is at least the same as a normal wired mouse. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I can't tell the difference playing half-life, wolfenstein, diablo II. And it is really easy on the batteries. It's been two months of constant use and still good! Range is OK, but I got a 25' ps/2 cable to extend the reach of the receiver so I can use computer from the couch. NICE!

My wireless keyboard owns, for gaming its just as responsive, with the RF reciever placed anywhere on my desk, just make sure you have "Keyboard Power ON" to OFF in bios, otherwise you'll run out of batteries really fast, or at least I did (1 month compared to 4+ months now :p )

ALL Wireless mice i've come in contact with, explorer, logitech mouseman, logitech regular, etc... SUCK for gaming. NOT smooth in windows either, like it runs at 40hz or something, very annoying if you run at 100+ hz usually.

For wireless/corded keyboard problems in windows 2000, in games etc... make sure you're running at 100hz for ps/2. Don't ask me why, but win2k hates 200hz ps/2, and fsk's up your input stuff, ie.. making you continue to walk forward etc... for no reason! At 100hz its fine though. Logitech drivers allow you to go up to 200hz, which is part of the problem. That's why Microsoft win2k's built in mouse rate changer only goes up to 100hz (or at least thats my only logical guess, why else?)

Good luck!

I only use cord mice

wireless mice are heavier
require battery replacements
slower response/refresh

The only Pro it has is freedom of americas best warranty, I mean freedom of a cord free movement. IMO if a cord bothers you that much then get an everglide cord bungie.

If I had a lan party I would make a channel chart with dog tags so people with cordless mice grab their channel tag so nobody else uses the same frequency. Then if some punk decides to use their mouse when someone with the same frequency is playing then they get their mouse confiscated and replaced with a $3 ball mouse.

I sorta think a cordless mouse is a waste of money. My corded keyboard and logitech optical mouse are fine, the cord doesnt bother me. The cordless ones are more expensive and use batteries, which after a few replacements, can get expensive
