wireless lighting control. . . .

our theater runs on etc net. i dont know if anyone here knows about this at all. . . but ill give it a try. we have about 400 dimmers and a 144 channel lighting control board that has a remote unit that we can control everything with. right now its connected via a cat5 cable to a node (basically a workstation that has a monitor and our contol module hooked to it) we are looking at making this setup wireless so we can use it onstage without paying out lots of cable . we already have a battery system for it. now we have to network it. we are planning on using 2 normal wireless routers. i belive they need to be in a bridge mode, so they take a signal and send it without changing the address or anything, picking it up and then putting out the exact same thing to the node. we prefer linksys. anyone have any info on setting up a system of this sort?

i dont thnk it will work. the cat5 you use for the lighting sends proprietary control signals, and low voltages. the wireless access point works on "ethernet"
the 2 are not compatible.
unless the cat 5 it is hooked to is connected to a regular network card....even then it is a 50-50 shot at best

You probably are better of with two Access Points.

Access Points are much more flexible than Wireless Routers when it comes to Wireless Modes.

As is, none of the Linksys Wireless Routers can bridge.

Take a look at the Linksys WAP54G it is probably a good choice.
