wireless laptop to a none wireless printer

Ok lets see if i don';t screw the question up.

MY uncle went from a desktop to a wireless laptop. so the printer he has for desktop wants to use it it with his laptop, But he will on the wireless with the laptop.

now how hard is it to network the printer so it will work with the laptop. i am trying to do this so he doesn't have to buy a wireless printer. I no nothing about networking.

But if he wants to buy a wireless printer he just needs to look for a just wireless or does it have to say WIFI.

Unless you have a print server you have to hook a printer up to a machine on the network. At this point you can share the printer over the network to the laptop.

If he doesn't still have a fuctoning desktop that teh printer can use to be shared on the network then he will need to take the laptop ot the printer when he wants to print.

not hard if you buy a print server...with out a pc... impossible. You need some sort of host for the printer. Either the pc or the print server performs this function.

oh also those are laser printers in the link I sent above... don't know if you need inkjet (photo printing) or what. I tend to prefer laser printers but if you need photo printing I dunno if they make wi-fi inkjet printers or not.

Although ksyder is right that either should be fine, it is always best to absolutely play it safe.

For example, my parents got a printer that has wireless... BlueTooth wireless. Not WiFi.

Oh, and the bluetooth doesn't work with Macs I think, which are the only systems in the house with bluetooth.
